My paintings are a reflection of memories, personal connections and emotions. They arise from what moves me: a word, an encounter, the transience of life, people or nature.

My work develops intuitively — sometimes figurative, sometimes more abstract, but always driven by an inner experience. With powerful brushstrokes, subtle nuances and layered structures, I search for the essence of a moment, a memory or a feeling. Oil paint, charcoal, acrylic, bister and ink — I use them freely and instinctively, depending on what the work asks for.

When a portrait or landscape comes alive during the painting process and takes on a presence of its own, a particular connection arises. Those are the moments when the work surprises me, and, in a sense, looks back at me.

Underlayers of newspaper play an important role in this. They refer to the many layers from which memories, experiences and emotions are built up. At the same time, fields of color, texts and structures become a source of inspiration within the painting process itself.

My landscapes, too, arise intuitively. Deep scratches, dark tones and open fields of light and white heighten the tension between unrest and stillness — much as life itself can be experienced as a layered whole of contrasts, stories and memories.

Painting, for me, is more than creating an image; it is a way to feel, to process and to connect. It is my voice.
